How to Measure Ring Size
A well-fitted ring won’t
slip off accidentally or feel uncomfortably tight. The difference between the
right size and a poor fit lies in precise measurement—especially since finger
sizes vary between hands and even between fingers.
Factors Affecting Ring Size
• Temperature: Fingers expand in heat and shrink in cold. Measure in normal room temperature, and if possible, check in warmer and cooler conditions to determine a comfortable allowance.
• Recent Activity: Avoid measuring immediately after exercise, as elevated body temperature can swell fingers, leading to an overly loose fit.
• Knuckle Size: Measure both the base of your finger and your knuckle. Ensure the ring can slide over the knuckle while fitting snugly at the base.
3 Ways to Measure Ring Size at Home
1. Use a Well-Fitted Ring for Comparison: If you have a ring that fits the target finger, measure its inner diameter with a ruler. Match the diameter to our size chart below to find the corresponding US ring size. You may source independent size conversion tools online to cross-verify.
2. String Test: Wrap a piece of string snugly (not tightly) around the base of your finger, mark where the string overlaps. Straighten the string and measure its length with a ruler. Refer to the size chart to find your size.
3. Paper Test: Cut a thin strip of paper, wrap it around your finger as you would with string, mark the overlap, and measure the length. This method works similarly to the string test and is ideal if you don’t have string on hand.
